Need Supervisory HMI? Check Parker's InteractX 3.0

from the Automation Group at Cross

HMI graphics & built-in connectivity - Parker leading the way with InteractX 3.0 with Supervisory HMI.  Dramatically reduce application development time and integration cost of your manufacturing operations.  With powerful Trending & Analysis Tools that aggregate data from multiple machines or workcells, InteractX takes the solution to another level.  It also makes it easy to push Interact Xpress machine-level HMI screeens and data directly into its interface without having to recreate applications or input tags.

Features include:
  • supervisory-level HMI aggregates data ffrom multiple sources, including 3rd party PLCs and HMI panels
  • full featured Historical Trending Software
  • time-saving 'distrubuted HMI' integration with Interact Xpress
  • no preset limits on pens or logs
  • scalable graphics
  • unlimited tags
  • 60+ standard communication drivers included
  • VB for application for easy customization
  • 3rd party OPC client/server support
  • preconfigured & custom Panel Tool library for quick screen development

Reduce supervisory application development time by up to 80% and significantly lower the cost of integrating Supervisory HMI with Parker's Xpress (TM) HMI and InteractX (TM).  Typically, the largest cost with moving your operation from standalone operation to Supervisory HMI comes from developing special applications for the Supervisory software.  Well, eliminate most of that......import screens and data with InteractX from Xpress applications.  Plus the new Historical Trending Tool provides powerful monitoring and analysis of all machines being supervised.

You will be able to use InteractX right out of the box without special IT skills or assistance.....very user-friendly plus the visual design interface includes styles and templates that enable multiple users to quickly build applications.  And with the Navigation Panel Wizard, you can quickly create menus for navigating through your entire HMI application.  The Intgrated Tag Editor includes time-saving Tag Group and Import Tag features for quickly creating, searching and editing tags.  You can even import AB tags directly.

To learn more about InteractX, download this brochure or better yet, call an engineer at Cross to discuss your application.

Parker Automation Product Solutions for Radiation Environments

from the Automation Group at Cross

Our valued supplier partner Parker, has a number of product solutions for Radiation Environments and the specialists at the Automation Group at Cross has seen all types of applications over the years.  For example, RAD hardened Daedal positioners are ideal when operating in environments where exposure to Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Neutron or X-Ray radiation exists.

All types of materials located in radiation environments are vulnerable to material degradation.  Positioning equipment in these environments can experience adverse physical effects resulting in reduced product life.  Parker focuses on material modifications and lubrication methods which will reduce the physical effect of radiation damage and increase product life.

Industries that have used Parker RAD hardened positioners include:
  • Medical Imaging
  • Medical Treatment
  • Electric Power Generation
  • Space Exploration
  • Naval Nuclear
  • Research
  • Alternate Energy
  • Medical Diagnostics
How does Parker prepare the RAD hardened positioners?
  • Radiation approved plating
  • Removal of linear bearing wipers
  • Removal of ballscrew wipers
  • Radiation resistant grease
  • Aluminum parts hard coat anodized
  • Stainless steel hardware
  • Stainless steel components
  • Fastener connections, no adhesives
  • Evaluation of strip seals
  • Evaluation of magnet material
  • Custom cages for ballscrew and linear bearings
  • Evaluation of non-metallic components
The Cross - Parker team will thoroughly evaluate your specific application for a successful solution.  No need to reinvent the wheel....just discuss your app with a Cross engineer.

Solve Complex Challenges with Parker's Pre-Packaged Solutions for Analytical Equipment Builders & OEMs

from the Automation Group at Cross

Attention analytical equipment builders & OEMs....speed up your time to market and lower your cost along the way.  Check out Parker's pre-packaged solutions utlizing their best-in-class electrical & mechanical components.

Here's an example for Liquid Handling:

A manufacturer of laboratory automation equipment needed electromechanical sub-assemblies for integration into an automated liquid handling machine. This machine would be required to operate at close to 100% duty cycle, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week in a production laboratory environment for liquid analysis. A three-axis motion system was needed for moving the dispenser assembly over an array of microtiter plates. The travel envelope of the system was 800mm X 300mm X 75mm. The customer would assemble, integrate, and program the completed system which included the X, Y, Z system, motors, drives, and control panel.

Parker Life Sciences' systems and products, offered at "Selectable Levels of Integration," enabled a perfect fit solution to be found from standard catalog linear tables. Based on travel, load, throughput, and other performance criteria, the
LXR linear-motor table and XR ball-screw table were selected as the primary mechanical components for this three-axis system. Two 404LXR units comprised the X & Y axes and a smaller 401XR was selected for the Z axis. Flexible options such as a long life cable management system, electric brakes, and inter-axis pinning greatly simplified the integrator's efforts.

Parker's ability to provide tables, motors, drives, guarding, and accessories, minimized the possibility of making costly mistakes which often occurs when components acquired from different manufacturers are not matched and sized correctly.

Analytical Instruments example

A manufacturer of lab automation analytical instruments presented the challenge of moving XYZ motion in a 300 x 300 x 100 mm stroke range in a package weighing less than 10 lbs and small enough to be portable. The customer needed light weight motion for smaller power requirements and ease of portability. The customer also needed a tightly integrated solution to minimize the instrument footprint.

Parker met the design challenges with their new LCR Series linear actuators and ion stepper drives combined with the LV Stepper motors ina complete system solution designed specifically for the application at hand utlizing these short lead time products.  The LCR solution offers a complete integrated screw, bearing, motor design with a  stainless stell strip seal to keep debris out of the unit and an optional stepper drive for easy motion integration.
