Achieve High-Precision Color Differentiation with Omron's E3MC RGB Color Sensors

from the Automation Group at Cross

If you need highly reliable color sensing technology, consider Omron's E3MC RGB color sensor - it can accurately detect extremely small differences up to four similar colors.  Ideal for food & beverage packaging, printing operations or any application requiring precise color differentiation.  It has a unique threshold sensitivity adjustment which allows users to change the threshold levels to one of several 'fine' or 'coarse' settings in order to distringuish between very similar colors.  It can even distinguish between different levels of white.

Omron E3MC / RGB Color Sensor

The E3MC discriminates differences in color without being influenced by ambient temperature changes, brightness or positioning of object being sensed.  It detects colors by knowing that the reflection ratio of the primary color - Red, Blue or Green - refelected by an object varies with the chromaticity of the object.  By using FAO (free angle optics), the sensor emits red, green and blue light on a single optical axis so the light will be reflected by sensing objects.  The E3MC receives the light reflected by the sensing objects through the receiver and processes the red - green - blue ratio of the light to discriminate the color of the sensing objects.

Built in amplifier type
Detect different colored parts.
Example - detect caps of different colors in a bottling process.  Settings are easily changed using the 4 color sensitivity  adjustment.

Extraction by Sorting Color
Example - sorts toothbrushes by handle color.  Stable detection is obtained without being influenced by changes in brightness of objects being sensed.

Fiber Optic type
Detect hard to differentiate marks
Example - highly resistant to fluctuations in color and offers stable detection of subtle color differences.

Fiber Optic type
Detect directional alignment for packaging
Example - used for aligning packaging directions by detecting delicate color differences or fine marks.

World's Smallest Class 6-Contact Guard Lock Safety-Door Switch

from the Automation Group at Cross

Have you heard about this yet?  Check out Omron STI's new D4SL - the world's smallest class 6-contact guard lock safety-door switch.  It combines simple and flexible installation with robust operation to satisfy the varying safety needs of today's door access applications.

The D4SL features a durable metal-head to deliver long life in demanding industrial environments. Users will also benefit from easily selectable wiring, a wide variety of mounting methods and available operating keys, and a generous key slot that accommodates the misalignment and instability of real-life door applications. The result is a robust, simple-to-install switch that satisfies the safety needs of today’s door access applications.

D4SL from Omron STI
  • Two types are available: a connector type that reduces wiring time
and a detachable terminal block type
  • Robust and durable metal head
  • Key holding force of 1,300 N
  • The wider key slot is less susceptible to movement from doors and can handle doors with a small radius
  • By rotating the mounting part, it is possible, both to change the key insertion point and to enable mounting on various devices
  • Easy view LED indicators can be checked from any direction
  • By utilizing the 6-contact type, both the door open/closed status and the solenoid ON/OFF status can be monitored independently
  • A cost-effective 5-contact model is also available

The D4SL Guard Lock Safety Door Switch is available with an optional Slide Bolt with key to prevent workers from becoming trapped inside a hazardous area, without having to use a padlock.
